Five pillars

The LMS Returns difference.

Flat Rate

$4.99 per return, nationwide. No zone tables, no weight tiers, no surcharges. The FinalFare philosophy applied to reverse logistics.

Label-less

Customers initiate a digital return authorization and present a QR code at drop-off. No printed label required — ever.

Box-less

LMS supplies the appropriate polybag (19 × 24 in). Customers bring the item. No carton, no tape, no packaging materials from the consumer side.

Verified Intake

Every return is visually confirmed against its digital authorization at the drop-off point. A digital intake record is created on the spot.

Metro Coverage

Convenient drop-off across top U.S. markets, swept by the LMS van network and consolidated for efficient processing-facility line-haul.

How it works

Seven steps, start to finish.

From the moment the consumer initiates the return to final line-haul delivery at your processing facility.

  1. 1

    Consumer initiates digital return authorization

The consumer visits the brand's return portal and initiates a return authorization digitally. No label is printed.

  2. 2

Consumer presents QR code at LMS drop-off location

The consumer brings the item to a participating LMS drop-off location and presents the digital QR authorization on their phone or device.

  3. 3

    Authorization confirmed

LMS staff scan and confirm the return authorization is valid, active, and matches the expected item category.

  4. 4

Item compared against image and description

The physical item is visually compared against the digital authorization record — category, description, and reference image — to confirm it matches what the consumer claims to be returning.

  5. 5

Item bagged in the smallest suitable polybag

Eligible soft goods and footwear are placed into the smallest suitable LMS polybag (up to 19 × 24 in). LMS supplies all polybag materials — the consumer brings no packaging.

  6. 6

LMS van sweep picks up consolidated Gaylord

On scheduled sweep runs, the LMS local van network picks up the consolidated Gaylord of returns from the drop-off location.

  7. 7

Freight / LTL line-haul to the brand's processing facility

Consolidated returns move via freight or LTL line-haul to the brand's designated processing facility for disposition, restocking, or liquidation — per the brand's own workflow.

Verified Intake

What LMS confirms at the drop-off point.

Verified intake is a physical + digital confirmation step, not a quality-inspection or fraud-adjudication service.

Verified Intake INCLUDES

  • Confirm return authorization is valid and active
  • Compare physical item against reference image and description
  • Confirm physical surrender of the item by the consumer
  • Create a timestamped digital intake record

Verified Intake DOES NOT INCLUDE

  • SKU-level scanning or inventory reconciliation
  • Condition grading (new, like-new, damaged, etc.)
  • Authentication of branded or luxury goods
  • Fraud adjudication or return-abuse detection
  • Technical inspection of electronics or hard goods
Eligibility

What ships through LMS Returns.

Eligible Items

  • Soft goods (apparel, accessories, linens)
  • Footwear (shoes, boots, sandals)
  • Items that fit in a 19 × 24 in polybag

Packaging

  • LMS supplies the polybag (up to 19 × 24 in)
  • Consumer brings the item only
  • No carton, no tape, no label from the consumer

Out of Scope

  • Oversized hard goods (furniture, appliances)
  • Consumer electronics
  • Hazardous materials
  • Industrial or commercial equipment
Refund eligibility

How refunds get triggered — and what LMS does.

LMS Returns handles the intake and logistics. Whether a refund is issued is determined by the brand's own policy and processing workflow.

1

Verified intake complete

LMS confirms the return at intake and creates a digital record. This is the moment LMS's role in the returns process is complete.

2

Brand policy permits

The brand's return policy — eligibility window, SKU restrictions, condition requirements — is evaluated at the processing facility by the brand, not LMS.

3

Refund eligibility triggered

If the policy permits, the brand's fulfillment or finance system triggers the refund. LMS does not adjudicate, approve, or deny refunds.

Common questions

FAQs about LMS Returns

How much does LMS Returns cost?
$4.99 flat rate return, nationwide. There are no zone tables, no weight tiers, and no surcharges. The $4.99 rate is all-in under LMS's FinalFare pricing model.
Do consumers need a label or a box to return an item?
No. Consumers initiate a digital return authorization and present a QR code at the LMS drop-off location. LMS supplies the polybag. Consumers bring the item only — no printed label, no carton, no tape.
What items are eligible for LMS Returns?
LMS Returns is designed for soft goods and footwear that fit within a 19 × 24 inch polybag. Oversized hard goods, electronics, hazardous materials, and industrial items are out of scope.
What does 'verified intake' include — and not include?
Verified intake confirms: (1) the return authorization is valid, (2) the item matches the category, description, and reference image on the authorization, (3) the consumer has physically surrendered the item, and (4) a digital intake record has been created. Verified intake does NOT include SKU-level scanning, condition grading, authentication, fraud adjudication, or technical inspection. Those are brand-side decisions made at the processing facility.
Does verified intake trigger a refund?
Verified intake by LMS records that the consumer physically surrendered the item. Whether a refund is issued depends on (1) whether the brand's return policy permits a refund for that SKU and condition, and (2) the brand's own adjudication at the processing facility. LMS's role ends at verified intake; LMS does not adjudicate refunds.
